Sumner County schools honor Academic League teams and national qualifiers

The Sumner County Board of Education recognized members of the Sumner County Academic League Feb. 18, honoring teams and players who qualified for state and national competition.
Board member Britney described the league’s season and said it marked its 10th anniversary this year, with about 150 players from 32 teams representing five high schools and nine middle schools. She named county champions, all-county honorees and most-improved players and encouraged the public to attend upcoming competitions.
Britney highlighted high-school and middle-school teams headed to state and national tournaments and thanked coaches, volunteers and parents for the time they devote to preparing competitors. "If you ever get an opportunity to watch these kids compete, it is so incredible," she said.
The board gave the students and coaches applause and asked the students to come forward for recognition.
