At the close of the Feb. 19 meeting the Sports Authority recognized several departing board members and presented small gifts.
Chair said this was her final meeting and reflected on decades of service, thanked staff and the authority team and noted upcoming milestones including the stadium opening and Bridgestone Arena renovations. The chair invited departing directors to stand; the board presented watercolor prints by a local Old Hickory artist depicting Bridgestone, Nissan Stadium and 1st Horizon Park as tokens of appreciation.
Director Don Dearing thanked colleagues for six years of service, praised staff and vendors and recounted how he was appointed by Mayor John Cooper. “When I left the board, we still had money in the bank,” Dearing said as he reflected on fiscal stewardship. Board members and staff thanked departing members and the chair closed the meeting with a reminder that the next meeting is scheduled for March 26 at Nissan Stadium.
