During the discussion a Committee member noted prior direction from trustees that sale proceeds be placed into a special account and urged the board to think in concrete terms about how to spend the funds "for kids." A board member proposed that the finance committee consider specific recommendations and return them to the full board.
The board also unanimously adopted a proclamation recognizing National Teacher Appreciation Week, using model language presented from the Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency that thanks and honors teachers and educators for their contribution to student success; the proclamation listed no budget implications.
The superintendent was authorized to proceed with the property-liquidation steps outlined in the action item; the board instructed staff to bring financing and allocation recommendations—such as creating a separate account for proceeds—to the finance committee for refinement before final allocation decisions.
