Members of the Emery County Trails Committee discussed a joint approach to ask the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to reconsider the status of the Mountain Dew Trail and potentially designate it for full‑size use. The committee agreed to prepare a single, consolidated letter for commissioners’ review and signature.
Speaker S2 proposed sending a coordinated letter and S5 said he and others would prepare the “nuts and bolts” of the request; committee members agreed the BLM prefers a single letter from combined stakeholders rather than multiple submissions. The group agreed to place the item on the next Trails Committee agenda so members can vote to recommend the letter and then forward it to the commissioners for signature.
Members noted a want to take items one at a time so the committee does not get overwhelmed, and asked staff to prepare maps/GPS tracks and a draft that commissioners can review. The committee did not vote on a final text during this meeting; the action taken was agreement to draft the letter and to place it on the next agenda for a formal motion and vote.
