The council also approved a separate July 4 closure requested by Sean Sabin for 4:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.; a council member noted the organizer’s respectful record from the prior year. A third permit for Eli and Brandy Robinson — for Sage Street between 4th and 5th (4:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.) — was approved after the council heard the applicants describe their family-oriented event. One council member abstained from the Robinson vote because the event affects their block.
Council members and residents praised new radar speed-limit signs elsewhere in town during general comments, saying the displays flash and appear to reduce speeds; several members suggested placing additional signs at other locations.
