Township board approves two fundraiser permits with fee waivers, closes offices July 5 and ratifies June warrants

At its June meeting the Riverside Township board approved multiple community event permits, waived facility fees for both events with conditions, voted to close township offices on July 5, and ratified a set of warrants totaling tens of thousands of dollars.
Trustees approved a request from Saint Elmo Commandery No. 64 to move its benefit concert to Aug. 31 and waived the facility fee while requiring the group carry appropriate alcohol insurance and post a security deposit. Trustee Heilenbach moved to waive the fees; Clerk Reyes called the roll and all members voted in favor.
Lucy Morrison, president of the Riverside Friends of the Library, told the board the library's harvest bingo event (Oct. 12) has been held for 12 years and that proceeds fund summer reading programming. "This is the event where we get money to fund the entire summer reading program," Morrison said; she told trustees the Friends supplied $5,000 for extra programming this year and asked that the board allow BYOB as in prior years. Trustee Clark moved to approve the request and waive fees; Trustee DeCosta seconded. The board approved the permit and fee waiver while requiring a security deposit; insurance documentation was already provided.
The board approved closing township offices on July 5 because Supervisor Wills will be out of town; Trustee Carroll moved to close the offices and the motion passed on a roll-call vote. Board members noted that the village is typically closed on July 4 and that staff would ensure pantry clients are notified about the closure.
On finance business, trustees ratified the general warrant dated June 2024 in the amount of $18,542.91. The board also authorized additional warrants dated June 2024: utility $1,379.19; payroll $19,367.95; health $3,359.76; partnership (formerly grants) $225; general assistance $7,429.89; township radio players $200; and food pantry $248.39. Trustee Carroll moved to authorize the general warrant and later moved to ratify the remaining warrants; both motions passed by roll call with all present voting yes.
There were no public comments and the board adjourned.
