Superior board approves routine gifts and personnel actions, accepts principal's resignation

At the Sept. 2 Committee of the Whole meeting, the Board of Education of the Superior School District approved routine administration recommendations for gifts and grants received in August and accepted the September new hires and separations report.

The board voted to accept the gifts and grants recommendation after a motion and second; the motion carried by voice vote. Later, the board approved the administration's recommended new hires and separations report; staff told the board there is a healthy applicant pool for support roles and that substitute-teacher hires and additional offers are expected this week.

The board also approved administration's recommendation to accept and release Aaron Fezzi, the high school principal, from his 2025-26 contract at his request, effective Aug. 29, 2025, including the liquidated-damages provision noted in the recommendation. Chair Gary Olson acknowledged Fezzi's service: "He came to us in 2011. He was a teacher for us, a coach, instructional coach, assistant principal, and then finally the principal at the high school. Want to, thank him for his service to the district and definitely wish him the best as he moves on to another venture in his life."

Each recommendation was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The personnel actions will be forwarded for final approval at the regular board meeting on Sept. 8, 2025, consistent with the committee's role in advancing administrative recommendations.
