The City of Arlington Planning and Zoning Commission on Sept. 24 approved a planned-development amendment for Circuit Systems at approximately 5301 West Pioneer Parkway that will allow an expansion of the facility.
Kevin Charles, principal planner, told the commission the site is approximately 7 acres and that the requested revision would amend the approved development plan for additional building area; he identified the applicant in staff remarks as "Circuit Systems Company Incorporated" and listed the property owner as Grady King and Co., LLC. Staff said the proposed addition meets the Unified Development Code's landscaping and setback requirements and that staff had not received letters of support or opposition.
Nikki Moore, representing the applicant (MMA), presented details about the company's history in Arlington and the planned expansion. Moore said the company moved to the building in 2015 and makes aerospace electrical components used on commercial and military aircraft. At the podium she described the proposed expansion as providing additional office, storage and manufacturing space and said the applicant has undertaken outreach with Trinity Methodist Church, Oak Ridge School and Arlington ISD; Moore said those contacts had no objections and that the expansion could create internship opportunities.
Moore described the requested additional area as approximately 23,000 square feet; staff's presentation included earlier references to phased approvals and different square-foot figures, which created inconsistent totals in the staff remarks. The commission did not resolve those internal transcript inconsistencies during the meeting; the applicant's stated figure for the additional space at the hearing was 23,000 square feet.
Commissioner Blake moved to approve PD15-05R1 for 5301 West Pioneer Parkway as presented; Commissioner Winkles seconded. The chair called the vote and recorded the motion as passing (announced as 8 to nothing).
The approval amends the previously approved planned development to allow the expansion described in the applicant’s presentation; final permit approvals and building-plan review remain required before construction.
