Resident seeks Minooka Fire Protection District appointment; board approves routine claims

A resident who identified himself as Chad Oretchko told the Grundy County board he wants to be considered for an appointment to the Minooka Fire Protection District board after a current member, Angie Robinson, said she would not seek reappointment.

"I was on the village board for 4 years," Oretchko said, adding that he joined the fire department at 16 and served as a paramedic and lieutenant. He said he had spoken with the current fire district board of trustees and planned to leave a letter expressing his interest for the county board's consideration.

Following public comment, the board handled routine business and approved multiple claims across departments. The chair called motions and the board voted to approve minutes and claims for EMA, corners, circuit court, the state's attorney's office, the public defender, administrative maintenance and the sheriff's department; all motions were recorded as carried with aye votes.

Board members also discussed appointment expirations coming up in April and May and asked staff to prepare a running list of positions whose terms will expire, to be provided at next month's meeting.

The meeting closed after a LEPC update and a Team Rubicon presentation; there were no executive-session items and the board adjourned after a motion carried.
