Commissioners approve multiple utility permits and county routine business including broadband projects

The Knox County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 16 approved a package of routine county actions, including multiple utility permits for broadband expansion, a subaward for a children’s-treatment initiative, and documents related to a trail resurfacing project and a tower agreement assignment.

The board moved and approved permits and right-of-way work for utility projects from multiple applicants (AEV; Mercury Broadband) affecting Pikeville Road, North Liberty Road, Knox Lake Road, Beshey Road, Michie Road, and Fredericktown Amity Road in Pike, Howard and Willard townships. Each permit was introduced, seconded and approved by voice vote.

The board also approved a subaward agreement between the Department of Job and Family Services and the Public Children Services Association of Ohio for the Ohio START program (sobriety treatment and reducing trauma). A motion to approve was seconded and carried.

County engineering staff presented cover sheets and plans for the Geocision Gap Trail resurfacing project and requested signatures on submission documents; commissioners moved to approve and sign the plans so the engineer could submit them.

Clerk items entered into the record included a sheriff meals report and treasurer interest report. The clerk also presented a notice of assignment for a county tower agreement: the tower contract previously associated with Horizon Telecom (noted in the record as formerly with Verizon) is being assigned to a different company (referred to in the record as Shentel/Fintel); the board instructed appropriate staff to prepare a resolution and have the signature required.
