Conservation commission approves invasive-removal plan and waivers for 16 Abbot Street

The commission closed the hearing Feb. 26 for 16 Abbot Street (DEP file 234-959) and approved the project’s revised plans, mitigation and associated waivers.
Diane of Field Resources presented additional materials requested at the prior meeting, including expanded infiltration chambers to capture all on-site impervious runoff, quantified invasive-vegetation control areas (about 1,365 square feet) and a proposed native-plant restoration area to offset additional impervious coverage. She said a certified arborist’s invasive-plant program and monitoring schedule would be implemented; commissioners asked that monitoring reports include photos to document progress, especially for knotweed management.
Commissioners discussed tree removals (two trees and an existing stump), native plant lists (the applicant said plants were selected from the commission’s online list), and the need for monitoring reports for plantings and invasive control. After closing the hearing, the commission voted to approve waivers of work in the no-disturb zone and to waive the associated waiver fee. The order of conditions was approved with standard erosion-control items, mitigation plantings, and monitoring/reporting requirements.
