Vice President of Human Resources Ken Horstmann (presenting for HR) updated the committee on current bargaining activity. He said the university is negotiating with Teamsters and AFSCME and that law‑enforcement labor‑represented employees have given notice to begin negotiations, possibly later this summer or early fall. HR staff also said they are working with the medical resident union and that AFSCME recently notified the university it represents fewer than 200 law‑school student workers.
Horstmann said both sides are forming bargaining teams and that August is a possible start date for some negotiations. The update was presented as an information item; no bargaining outcomes were announced at the meeting.
