Pike County court approves voting-machine contract and raises poll-worker pay

Pike County's fiscal court voted to authorize payment and execution of a contract with Utility Resources LLC for delivery and set-up of voting machines and related equipment for the upcoming election, and separately approved a new pay scale for poll workers.
Judge Jones asked elections staff to speak to the contract. Daryl Pew (elections staff) explained the planned locations for early voting, including Virgie Library, Elkhorn City Community Center, Phelps Library and sites at the Belpre Courthouse and the large library next to Lowe's; he recommended paying early-voting poll workers $160 per day and election-day workers $240 per day, noting that early-voting shifts are shorter.
A motion to approve the Utility Resources LLC agreement was made and seconded and passed on roll call. The court also approved the recommended poll-worker pay after a motion by Commissioner Scott and second by Commissioner Lewis; roll-call votes were recorded as yes by the commissioners present.
Court documents and minutes will reflect the vendor contract and the new pay scale. Judge Jones said the county would post relevant public notices and that election staff should coordinate logistics for the new early-voting locations.
