City approves MDOT contract for North River Road resurfacing; project estimated at $2.1 million

The Mount Clemens City Commission adopted a resolution authorizing a contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation to resurface North River Road (MDOT contract number 21-5473).
City staff presented the project scope and cost estimates and said federal surface transportation funds will cover 81.85% of the estimated $2,100,000 total cost; the remaining balance of $382,969 will be paid from the city's major street funds (SEG 672–685). The contract and attached municipal resolution name the officials authorized to sign the agreement.
Commissioners questioned whether water and sewer work could be coordinated with the paving and whether any local street costs were included; administration said sewer and water repairs are being scheduled to occur prior to paving because MDOT runs the repaving project and the city will coordinate the sequencing (SEG 699–716). Officials said bids had been opened and start dates had not yet been determined.
The commission approved the resolution and authorized the city manager and public services director to sign the contract (roll call approved) (SEG 736). Administration said the project budgeted costs are in the municipal packet and the project has been reviewed by the city attorney.
