Member comments ranged from concern about appearing to hoard reserves ("It just seems that we're ending each year with an excessive amount of reserves," one member said) to arguments that a stable fund balance allowed the district to make early pay increases during the pandemic.
The meeting then considered a proposed district iPad purchase. Supporters said devices would improve equity, accessibility and classroom opportunities; critics warned of recurring replacement costs and urged prioritizing teacher-pay increases. After debate the motion to approve the district iPad purchase passed; the minutes record dissenting votes but show the measure carried. The chair recorded a unanimous vote on the overall budget earlier in the meeting.
