Sumner County Board recognizes students selected for Tennessee Governor's School

The Sumner County Board of Education recognized a large cohort of students selected for Tennessee Governor's School programs, honoring representatives from Liberty Creek, Merrill Hyde, Hendersonville, Station Camp, Gallatin, Portland, White House and other schools.
Dr. Langford, who introduced the honorees, said the Governor's School brings exemplary students together on college campuses for intensive three-week programs in areas including theatrical arts, choral music, emerging technology and computational physics. "It's a huge honor for the kids," he said, praising both students and parents for the achievement.
Board members presented commemorative coins and invited district photographers to record each school's delegation. Several board members offered brief congratulations from the dais as students and families came forward to be recognized.
The recognitions concluded with an invitation for honorees to stay for the meeting or to leave after the ceremony; the board then moved on to reports and regular business.
