The Palm Beach County Zoning Commission recommended approval Wednesday of a development‑order amendment and two class‑A conditional uses allowing Crossbridge Church to consolidate and renovate its campus, add square footage and include a K–5 private school (125 students) and a general daycare (120 children).
Zachary Kepler, representing the applicant, described a plan to join five existing structures into one larger building, adjust parking and circulation for dual pickup/drop‑off lanes, and make right‑of‑way improvements on Judge Winnicoff Road and State Road 7, including turn‑lane extensions and a mountable median to preserve emergency access. The applicant said the school and daycare would be phased: the daycare would launch first and the private school would be developed as enrollment and demand increase.
Jerome Small, senior site planner, summarized staff findings: the site is in a PUD with an MR‑5 future land use designation, the submitted plan showed required buffers, outdoor play areas and parking, and staff recommended approval subject to conditions in the staff report and the ad/delete.
There were no extended public controversies recorded at the hearing. After a short staff presentation and limited public comment (including submitted written opposition not read into the record), the commission voted to recommend approval of the DOA and both conditional uses. The recommendations will proceed to the Board of County Commissioners for final action.
