Knox County Commission approves consent agenda, introduces communications lead and votes to enter executive session

The Knox County Commission approved its consent agenda by a 3-0 vote during the December 10 regular meeting, then introduced a new communications lead and voted to enter executive session under a cited personal-matter provision of state law.

A motion to approve the consent items was moved and seconded and carried with all three commissioners voting in favor. No discussion or dissent on the consent agenda was recorded on the public record.

Chairman Blazer introduced John Brophy to speak to the commission. Brophy said he was working with the ARCC and local stakeholders in police, fire and EMS to "identify what the outcomes are that we want to have" and build structure and processes to meet those objectives. "It is a work in progress," Brophy said, and thanked the commission for the opportunity to collaborate.

Later the commission voted to go into executive session under a statutory provision cited in the meeting as "1 MRSA, subsection 405," described on the record as relating to a personal matter. The motion to enter executive session was moved and seconded and carried 3-0. The commission later returned to open session, took a motion to adjourn and voted 3-0 to adjourn.

Commissioners announced a budget committee meeting scheduled for Thursday; during the meeting times were spoken of as both 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., and an additional executive session may be scheduled on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. No formal actions related to the public comment alleging police misconduct were recorded on the floor during this session.
