Knox County Commission votes to enter executive session to discuss personnel matter

The Chair called the Feb. 1, 2025 meeting of the Knox County Commission to order and said the board would consider moving into executive session to discuss a personnel matter, citing the statutory language spoken in the record as "1 m r s a 4 0 5 6 a." The Chair then asked for a motion to enter executive session.

A Committee member moved that the commission go into executive session. Another Committee member seconded, and the Chair called the vote. "Three in favor, not opposed," the Chair said, recording a unanimous vote to recess into executive session. The Chair told those present that, "as is always the case, we won't be taking any votes in the executive session."

The panel recessed for two executive sessions to consider separate personnel matters and later returned to open session. After reconvening, a Committee member moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded and the Chair recorded the adjournment vote as unanimous. The Chair said another set of executive sessions was scheduled for Friday at 2:00 p.m., and the next public meeting of the commission was set for Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 2:00 p.m.

No members of the public spoke during the public comment period; the Chair opened the period at the start of the meeting and, seeing no speakers present, closed it without comment.
