Council accepts $120,000 biennial stormwater capacity grant to support NPDES compliance

Robert McAndrews said the grant covers activities including public education and involvement, illicit discharge detection, runoff controls for new development, pollution prevention, and equipment purchases that improve permit compliance. He noted the grant is retroactive to July 1, 2025, and would run through March 31, 2027, if accepted.
Council member Stecklein thanked staff for emphasizing the education component. Council moved to adopt resolution 26‑001 to accept the $120,000 grant and authorize the public works director or designee to sign agreement documents; the motion passed by voice vote with no objections recorded.
Acceptance of the grant authorizes staff to pursue reimbursement for eligible activities under Ecology's program and to proceed with the stated compliance and education efforts.
