Carol Stream board introduces 2025 Citizen of the Year nominees ahead of awards

Among those named were Carrie Korda (nominated by residents Nancy Zack and Linda Kord and community organizations including Make-A-Wish Illinois), Angela Hovorek (nominated by Community Consolidated District 93), Katie Kennedy (nominated by the Carol Stream Police Department) and a slate of male nominees including James Parr (Carol Stream parade committee), Jim Slinker (Rotary Club of Carol Stream), and others nominated by District 93 and the Carol Stream Park District.
Trustees thanked nominators and volunteers and said the presentation was meant to emphasize the breadth of civic engagement across the village. A group photo and the formal award presentation were scheduled at the ceremony next weekend at Saint Andrews.
The village board did not take any formal action during the introduction; the segment was a ceremonial recognition and invitation to the award event.
