The Washington State Building Code Council (SBCC) executive committee voted March 6 to designate four primary IBC tag seats as ex officio after staff reported the members had been absent for multiple meetings.
Dustin (SBCC staff) told the committee that statute allows a primary seat to be designated ex officio when its member has missed more than three meetings and persistent absences are impairing a tag’s ability to meet quorum. He said the ex officio designation keeps the individual invited to meetings and able to participate if they attend, but their seat would not count toward quorum until reappointment is completed.
