Feeding Vermillion presents first annual report, cites rising pantry visits

Greg Merrigan, a member of the Feeding Pavilion Board of Directors, addressed the board during the visitor portion of the meeting to present the nonprofit’s first annual report and to thank the commission for ongoing support.
Merrigan described the organization’s seven programs — including a free Monday night community meal, a five-day-a-week community food pantry, a weekend backpack program that supplies kids with food, monthly deliveries to homebound residents and an annual school-supplies distribution — and spotlighted a new snack program that supplies snacks to roughly 600 elementary students each school day.
He highlighted year-to-year client numbers, saying pantry visits rose from 8,618 in 2021 to about 12,108 in the most recent year and stressing that demand “is increasing every year.” The board accepted the report and Merrigan left copies for commissioners.
Commissioners thanked him for the presentation and for the organization’s work in the community.
