Committee forwards two travel‑gift resolutions for DMV staff with no objections

Resolution 26‑20 would accept travel, hotel accommodations, meals and related expenses valued at $5,874 to permit representatives from the Department of Customer Services and the Department of Information Technology to visit the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles in Phoenix in April 2026. Kim Hashiro, Director of the Department of Customer Services, told the committee the visit would help DIT and CSD study the Arizona 'MAX' system and its open‑source backend as part of efforts to migrate Honolulu’s DMV data off a legacy mainframe.
Resolution 26‑26 would accept travel and related expenses valued at $2,900 to enable a Department of Customer Services representative to attend the 2026 Motor Vehicle Administrators leadership workshop in Arlington, Virginia. Hashiro said the conference provides leadership development and national best practices the DMV administrator can bring back to Honolulu.
For both items the committee posted CD1 amendments on the agenda, and after discussion and no objections the chair amended each resolution to CD1 and recommended they be reported out for adoption. No registered testifiers appeared for either item and the committee did not conduct a roll‑call vote in the meeting record.
