Courtney Lauer, introduced by the chair as Knox County’s HR director, reviewed staffing, training and benefits outreach during the Aug. 26 meeting.
Lauer listed upcoming training and engagement: the Ohio Public Risk Management Association annual training, ADA-focused training in Dublin led by Rachel Shaw, and the county career fair at Mount Vernon High School on Oct. 1 where the county will promote jobs. She said an in-person defensive driving course is planned for Oct. 17 at the Memorial Building.
On recruitment and personnel metrics, Lauer reported the county participated in 10 interviews over the past month, onboarded 12 employees, offboarded 7 and is monitoring 24 Family and Medical Leave Act cases (down three from the previous year at this time). She noted open recruitments for eligibility specialists, intake caseworker for child protective services and a part-time driver posting that remains active.
Lauer encouraged applicants to use the county employment portal and said HR will provide paper applications or assistance when needed. She also said the office is coordinating open enrollment meetings for staff in October and working with departments, including the sheriff’s office, to deliver on-site benefit sessions.
Commissioners thanked HR for bringing cohesion to personnel processes; no formal action was taken on the HR report.
