Algonquin boosters report $596,000 revenue and steps to increase transparency

Paul Cacciatore, president of the Algonquin Athletic Boosters Club, gave a brief overview of the boosters' operations and finances on Feb. 25.
Cacciatore said the boosters are an independent 501(c)(3) that raised roughly $596,000 and spent about $550,000 between July 2023 and January. Money raised supports team‑specific accounts and pays for apparel, banquets, senior gifts and fundraising costs; Cacciatore said each team maintains its own ledger and that all 28 team accounts were in positive balances.
He described governance changes — removing coaches as booster representatives to avoid conflicts of interest — seasonal representative meetings (fall/winter/spring) and a stronger internal ledger. The boosters have a CPA on the executive board and an accounts payable contact who handles reimbursements. Cacciatore said he and administration (Becky and Mike) are working to ensure the boosters' purchases are coded correctly and that the district's finance team has full access to the boosters' records for review.
Committee members thanked Cacciatore and other volunteers for fundraising and volunteering on facility and athletic projects. Cacciatore said he expects to return in a few months with an update.
