Staff noted vehicle useful life industry standards of about 200,000 miles or seven years and reported year‑over‑year ridership increases of roughly 10–20 percent in recent months.
Council discussed the capital cost per vehicle (about $289,000 estimated) and asked about useful life and maintenance costs; staff said replacement decisions would be made as vehicles near industry thresholds and that any awarded funds would be appropriated year‑by‑year.
The motion to authorize the application and the associated local match was approved on voice vote.
