The Paragonah Planning Commission opened its Feb. 25 meeting with routine business, adopting the agenda and approving the Jan. 28 minutes on voice votes before turning to substantive updates.
Commission members acknowledged that the town board adopted a short-term rental agreement, clearing that item from the commission's checklist. Marge (Speaker 4) was thanked for help with the short-term rental item.
The commission then set a public hearing for next month to take testimony on proposed amendments to fence and building-permit rules and directed staff to publish draft language in advance. The chair said the planning commission's role is to review and refine land-use language and then forward recommendations to the town board, which makes final decisions.
The chair also reported engagement with state legislative staff and with Roger Carter, noting some state-level budget and policy work could affect small towns. In particular, the chair described a proposed modification that would allow towns to set aside an additional 1.5% of gross water fee receipts into a restricted fund to pay for future water projects; commissioners said the measure could help small towns that do not have sewer systems.
Before adjourning, the commission confirmed its next regular meeting on March 25, 2026.
