Council approves $279,946 contract to renovate Dave White Golf Course clubhouse

City staff member Aaron recommended the council accept the negotiated construction scope with a guaranteed maximum price of $279,946.24, which "includes a $5,000 contractor contingency," and described work that will reconfigure the kitchen, add an additional walk-in freezer and ice machine, and enclose about 683 square feet of patio to create roughly 585 square feet of interior space. Staff said the enclosed area will seat about 45 patrons and allow space for a manager's office and equipment room.
Aaron also told the council the clubhouse currently generates about $400,000 a year from retail, food and beverage and that the renovation could add an estimated $30,000–$50,000 in annual food and beverage and retail revenue. "We're hoping...to get reports on how long people are spending time in there," Aaron said of a new partnership with the Chamber and a geospatial analytics tool to help track return on investment.
A council member who spoke in support said the added interior space "is gonna add so much to the space" and will help during tournaments and busy events. The council approved the resolution by roll call; the motion passed unanimously.
The contract is scheduled to begin this spring, with construction to be completed 128 days after the notice to proceed, according to the staff report.
