City manager details KE Electric project and summer events in Mount Clemens

City Manager Mister Johnson updated the commission on local development and community programming, highlighting the KE Electric project and several summer events.
Johnson said the KE Electric redevelopment has completed phase 1 (site securing, debris cleanup, brownfield analysis and use of an existing structure as a construction headquarters). He described phase 2 as balancing the land—relocating soils and constructing a substantial seawall on the east side of the 10‑acre lake—and said phase 3 will be construction of a new warehouse and office for KE Electric Supply. "That seawall will provide substantial support for the building to be constructed in phase 3," Johnson said.
Johnson also announced Macomb Cable Network will offer free sale postings for residents; nonprofit organizations may post community events on the city calendar. Upcoming events he listed included the Riverfront Independence Day celebration on June 24 with fireworks at dusk, a Ghostbusters drive‑in movie scheduled for June 25 at the Roskoff parking lot near the Anton Art Center, and the Uptown Friday night concert series beginning July 8 and running through September 30. He noted the DDA will present three additional Saturday Riverfront concerts on July 23, Aug. 27 and Sept. 24.
Johnson concluded with brief public‑health information: county COVID rates were reported as falling and residents were urged to use Macomb County Vaccine Central to schedule vaccinations.
The commission received the report; no formal action was required and staff will continue to provide project updates as the KE Electric phases progress.
