During the meeting council considered several board appointments and recognized County Administrator Dennis, who announced he will leave the county to take a city administrator position in Wichita.
Staff reported a vacancy on the library board for District 2 and applicants for community outreach and engagement and health and wellness commission seats. Council voted to reappoint Kevin Waiters as the District 7 representative, appoint Lashon Sassenet as an at‑large member, and approve Cameo Green Coleman to the health and wellness commission; those appointments passed unanimously.
Council members expressed appreciation and offered personal remarks to Dennis for his service; Dennis thanked staff and reflected on achievements in county administration. The council announced a public farewell event on Dec. 29 and then moved to executive session to discuss one personnel matter pursuant to South Carolina Code of Laws §30‑4‑70(a)(1), inviting counsel from Winters Law Firm. The motion to enter executive session was moved, seconded and approved.
No personnel actions were disclosed in open session; executive session was taken in accordance with the statutory exception for personnel matters.
