Frederick County School Board approves personnel actions, names new assistant principal at James Wood Middle School

The board then approved personnel actions recommended by the superintendent by voice vote.
Dr. Hummer presented the announced appointment: "I would like to call up the new assistant principal for James Wood Middle School, Mr. Gino Marchese," Dr. Hummer said, and attendees gave Marchese a round of applause. Dr. Hummer described Marchese’s background, saying he transitions from his role as an accountability specialist at Robert E. Aylor Middle School and previously taught special education for 15 years in Berkeley County Public Schools. "Since joining FCPS in 2017," Dr. Hummer said, "he has served as an instructional resource teacher and senior lead teacher at James Wood Middle School." He also noted Marchese holds a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from Shepherd University and a master's degree in teaching from Fairmont University.
Marchese addressed the board after being introduced: "I just want to thank you guys. I know you had to come in for a special session to do this ... I'm looking forward to going back and hitting the ground running Wednesday when I get to start," he said, and thanked colleagues including Dr. Myers and Mrs. Mariner, who he said will be his principal.
Chair called for the next meeting to be held on Aug. 19, 2025, and the board adjourned after a motion and second.
