Shakopee council approves annexation, MUSA expansion and zoning for Greenview subdivision

The Shakopee City Council on Jan. 20 approved a package of actions to bring the Greenview subdivision into the city, including annexation, a Metropolitan Urban Service Area (MUSA) map amendment, PUD zoning and a preliminary plat.
Planning and development director Kerschke told the council US Home, doing business as Lennar, proposed annexing property in Jackson Township and amending the 2040 comprehensive plan to extend the MUSA to include the Greenview site. "They are proposing the MUSA amendment to include the Greenview development," Kerschke said, and staff noted the annexation (resolution R2026-002) requires a simple majority while the comprehensive-plan amendment (R2026-003) requires a supermajority.
