At its Aug. 26 meeting, West Valley City’s council approved seven consent-agenda items that included intergovernmental agreements for law-enforcement services, a memorandum of understanding with the Utah attorney general, a professional-services agreement with Sioux Solutions, a cooperative emergency-access agreement with UDOT and routine deeds, easements and reappointments.
The council then convened as the municipal board of canvassers and approved resolution 25-117 to certify final primary-election returns provided by the city recorder; as read into the record, candidates advancing to the general election include the named winners for several districts and the mayoral general election scheduled for Nov. 4, 2025.
Shortly after, the Redevelopment Agency (RDA) convened and approved resolution 25-08 to renew the Hometown Scholars contribution agreement with the University of Utah. RDA will use housing-set-aside funds to provide affordable housing and wraparound supports for at least 12 West Valley students who will live at Fairbourne (Fairborn) Station and use TRAX for transit to campus. The RDA also approved resolution 25-09 to grant a temporary construction easement to Enbridge Grama Company for a gas-main bore under the Jordan River on RDA-owned property.
What’s next: Consent items proceed as approved; the RDA partnership is expected to facilitate housing and support for first-generation students attending the University of Utah; the Enbridge easement will be used for construction staging and boring under the Jordan River as described in the RDA resolution.
