Panel approves drive-through daiquiri shop despite late-hours questions

The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to approve a specific-use permit for Dockery Island To Go, a drive-through daiquiri operation proposed at 901 East Main Street (SUP25090036).
Staff presented the proposal and DRC conditions, which included health-department approval of dumpster enclosure location, ordering from inside using the drive-through speaker, operation-hour limits (no later than midnight Sunday–Friday and 1 a.m. on Saturday), and a one-year City Council review. The operation would sell packaged mixed-alcohol beverages and finger foods for off-site consumption only; staff emphasized there would be no lobby sales or on-site consumption.
Commissioners pressed the applicant and staff on whether the city already has drive-through alcohol outlets that operate past midnight and how the business would comply with open-container laws. The applicant stated the drinks would be sold in sealed containers and cited TABC requirements; the applicant also confirmed existing locations in the region and said the proposed site would be one of several in the DFW area.
Commissioner Jamie Mendez Adakari moved to close public comment and approve the SUP per DRC recommendations; Commissioner John Federco seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Conditions require the applicant to secure all applicable public-health and TABC approvals and comply with the one-year review requirement.
