A Helly Elementary staff presenter addressed the Savannah R-III Board of Education about building activities and student outcomes. The presenter reported that at the end of the previous school year 87.5% of the school’s students were reading at grade level and highlighted literacy-focused coaching and programs.
The presenter described recent building improvements including an upgraded art room and added playground areas and noted a planned ribbon-cutting for the new playground. Staff also described community events — including a fall festival / park opening consolidation and a 9/11 memorial stair-climb in which staff and local firefighters participated.
The chair thanked the Helly Elementary staff for the presentation. The board also recognized Nicole Jackson, a North Central Missouri College teacher candidate who was attending the meeting as part of coursework.
