The speaker also summarized Senate Bill 63, which (as amended) allows homeschooled, virtual and family-paced education students to try out for athletic teams rather than automatically participate; the district will need to update athletic eligibility policy in line with the law and guidance from the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA).
Board members asked administrative staff to continue monitoring whether the governor calls a special session and to consult MSBA for required policy updates. The board did not take formal action on budget items; staff said further adjustments may be needed after the governor signs the budget.
