Council member Austin Grama moved to postpone resolution 25-10, saying the paperwork was not yet finalized; the mayor seconded. Grama said, “I move the council, postpone resolution 25 dash 10.” The mayor then seconded the motion and the council carried it in a roll-call vote to delay action until the language and approvals from outside parties are complete.
City staff told the council that because the proposal involves a large company, attorneys and other stakeholders had not finished agreed wording, and that if the developer accepts a letter from the city the resolution might not be necessary. The mayor said, “Home Depot’s still happy to come to Clinton,” and that postponement reflected progress rather than a withdrawal of the proposal.
The item will return to a future meeting after attorneys and the company finish negotiating final wording; no final adoption or timetable was established at the July 8 session.
