Lopez Solid Waste District board approves 20% increase in tipping fees

Carr said the last adjustment was in 2021 and the proposed increase is intended to recover rising operating costs and modestly contribute to a sinking fund for equipment replacement. "The last time these tipping fees were raised was in 2021 ... you can think of it as a catch up of 4% a year for the last 5 years," Carr said.
Board members asked about the district's public notification; Carr said the district posted its intention on Dec. 19 and would proceed if the governing board approved. The board moved and carried the resolution to increase tipping fees.
Next steps: district staff to implement updated fees and continue public outreach about the change.
