Knox County Commission chair calls special meeting, moves into executive session on personnel matter

The Knox County Commission held a brief special meeting Monday, Feb. 2, called to order by the chair, who said only two commissioners were present and a third was expected to join online because of COVID-related absence. The chair accepted a motion to convene an executive session to discuss a personnel matter pursuant to 1 M.R.S.A. §405(6)(A).
"I will call this, Monday, February 2 special meeting of the Knox County Commission to order," the chair said. After the motion and a second were recorded on the public record, the chair called the vote and announced, "2 in favor and none opposed," and the commission recessed into executive session.
The commission later reconvened in open session. The chair stated, "I don't believe there's any votes that came out of that we wanna vote on. There's no action items that have come out." He then reminded commissioners of the next regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 2:00 and entertained a motion to adjourn, which was moved, seconded and approved with "2 in favor, not opposed." The chair closed the meeting.
No members of the public spoke during the meeting, and the transcript records no formal public actions or votes taken in open session as a result of the executive session. The meeting was procedural in nature and limited to convening the executive session and closing the special session.
