Pierce County Council unanimously approves consent agenda, flags executive-signed condemnation ordinances

The Pierce County Council met on Jan. 27, 2026, and unanimously approved its consent agenda, the chair announced. The agenda included one set of minutes, two grant applications and a settlement motion; the council voted 7–0 to adopt the consent agenda.
The chair told the council that the executive had signed two ordinances on Jan. 23 authorizing the prosecuting attorney to commence condemnation proceedings. The first ordinance, referenced by the chair as “ordinance 2025-535s,” authorizes condemnation related to County Road Project 5842 (128th Street East). The second, listed as ordinance 2025-566, authorizes condemnation for County Road Project 5769 (Lackey Road/Jackson Lake Road project). The chair provided the notifications as messages from the executive; the council took no separate vote on those items during the meeting.
A motion to approve the consent agenda was moved and seconded and the clerk called the roll for the vote. The clerk recorded seven ayes and no nays and the chair announced the motion adopted. No members of the public spoke on the consent items during the public comment period.
The meeting then proceeded to community forum and other business, where council members and members of the public discussed a range of local topics (see separate coverage). The council adjourned after brief remarks and a recognition of the Jan. 27 Paris Peace Accords anniversary.
