Summary
During community forum, a resident described years of advocacy on a stranger-stalking bill following a family tragedy, and another resident requested county assistance after prolonged identity-theft problems affecting more than 100 online accounts.
Two members of the public spoke during the Pierce County community forum on Feb. 24.
Ken Paulson recounted his personal advocacy after his daughter was murdered at a Tacoma school and described work pressing the Washington Legislature on a "stranger stalking" bill, saying media attention and public pressure helped move similar legislation out of committee in the past.
Angelie (Angelie) Scardo of Pierce County District 2 asked the council for assistance and referrals after several years of attempting to recover more than 100 compromised online accounts. She said methods tried included phone calls, mail, law enforcement and identity.gov, and urged more services to assist victims of identity theft.
Vice Chair Herrera closed the community forum after no additional hands appeared and the council concluded its business.
