The Pierce County Council moved Feb. 24 to reconsider and correct Resolution R2026-109, which reestablished terms of office for members of the Pierce County Tourism Promotion Area Hotel Commission.
Council member Krueger moved to bring the resolution back for reconsideration and then moved for approval of council amendment No. 1. Miss Long briefed the council on the two technical corrections: replacing an incorrect hotel name in a recital (changing the Marriott Tacoma downtown reference to Courtyard by Marriott Tacoma) and changing "first term" to "second term" for an appointee named Blue Bratton.
Julie Murray and staff explained the importance of accurate staggered terms for commission stability and noted a broader internal review of how staggered terms are assigned when vacancies occur. The amendment was adopted by voice vote and the council subsequently adopted the amended resolution by roll call (6 ayes, 0 nays).
Council members heard a brief public comment period; no additional Zoom comments were raised. The amended resolution corrects administrative errors and confirms appointments.
