Pierce County Council approves consent agenda, confirms three commission appointees

The Pierce County Council approved its consent agenda on Feb. 17, 2026, confirming three appointment resolutions and welcoming appointees to advisory bodies. The action passed on a roll-call vote the chair announced as "7 ayes, 0 nays."
The consent agenda included one set of minutes and three appointment resolutions. Council members moved and seconded approval, and the clerk read the roll during the vote. The council then introduced the appointees and invited brief remarks.
Christian (Chris) Lopez Moreno, one of the appointees, told the council he has lived in Tacoma for more than a quarter-century and said he is "excited to be now in the commission" and eager to learn and serve. Alexander Burlakov, who said he moved to Pierce County from Ukraine, described a background in workforce development. Syed Bukhari said he is originally from Pakistan and expressed a desire to help and serve immigrant communities. Ingram Druding introduced himself separately as representing three hotels for Hollander Hospitality in Puyallup and said he was honored to be considered for the tourism promotion role.
Alice, who identified herself as chair of the Pierce County Commission on Refugee and Immigrant Affairs, thanked the council for appointing new members and invited council members to the commission’s Lunar New Year celebration on Feb. 28 at the Tacoma Dome, saying the program will feature Khmer cultural performances.
Councilmember Denson and other members thanked the new and returning commission members for volunteering their time and perspectives. With no removals requested from the consent agenda, the council approved the slate and the appointment resolutions were adopted.
Separately during the meeting, Councilmember Denson moved to continue ordinance O2026-500 to the council’s regular meeting on April 14, 2026, saying the continuation would allow requests to the prosecutor’s office to be addressed. The motion to continue was seconded and carried by voice vote; the chair announced the motion carried and the ordinance will be taken up again on April 14.
The council adjourned after hearing community forum comments and reminded members of a committee-of-the-whole meeting scheduled the next morning at 9:30 a.m.
