Council flags grants and agrees budget will need amendment after quarterly review

Council members and staff reviewed the quarterly revenue and expense packet and identified several grant and reimbursement items that were not previously recorded in the adopted budget. Chair (speaker 2) and the town clerk (speaker 1) noted a BLM grant of $21,000 and a county reimbursement (discussed as roughly $58,000 in cumulative income) that will require separate line items and an amendment to the budget.

Town staff said the county reimbursement and other grant amounts were not fully accounted for in the original budget and recommended adding distinct line items for each grant. "So we'll have to amend," the chair said, and staff agreed to prepare the budget amendment and supporting documentation. The clerk noted the need to separate the BLM grant and the PMOD/Amy Johnson grant in the administration income lines.

Councilors also reviewed routine income sources (business licenses due at the start of the year) and discussed clerical clean-up to ensure check descriptions and accounting labels match the source documentation. No formal vote to amend the budget occurred at the meeting; the body instructed staff to prepare an amendment for a future meeting.
