Resident alleges coercion by officers, says body‑cam footage exists

During the public-comment period resident William Murphy (3208 West Noble) told the Guthrie City Council he was arrested Sept. 26 after calling police about threats and that he has body-camera footage he can provide. Murphy alleged officers present failed to interview an employee who witnessed the incident and suggested a sergeant coerced a third party into filing false charges against him. He said a VPO filed against him was denied the next day and asked the chief why the department had not acted sooner.
Murphy addressed the council directly: “I called the police to come and take care of a threat from Woody Glover junior and senior… I told them I had weapons in my home there to protect myself. That’s my home, period,” he said, and later questioned why officers did not interview his employee and why body-cam footage had not been made available. He also told the council he believed he had been treated unfairly and asked for accountability.
The chair reminded the public that council does not respond during public comment. No departmental response was provided during the meeting; staff did not announce an immediate investigative follow-up on the record at the council meeting.
