Lee's Summit R‑VII seeks three‑year renewal for security monitoring and hires roof designer ahead of construction bids

Facilities director Mr. Gorel told the finance committee the district is recommending a three‑year renewal with American Digital Security (ADS) to continue monitoring fire alarms, panic alarms and some elevator systems. He said the contract is through the TIPS cooperative and that staff compared at least one local vendor before concluding ADS offered the lowest price.
Mr. Gorel also presented a design contract recommendation with Benchmark Roof Consulting to provide roofing design services, update the district's roof management plan and do on‑site observation during construction. He said some roof sections lacked reliable bids last year and that the district expects to go out to bid on construction in November or December, with additional roofing work at Summit Lakes and Lee's Summit Elementary included in the scope.
Mr. Gorel described Benchmark as a professional engineering firm that will serve as the district's designer for the roofing projects and said the firm's compensation is based on a percentage of construction cost. He told the committee staff will bring the construction contract to the board for approval in late fall or early winter.
