Facilities staff present plans for two F‑550 trucks, roofing and classroom casework replacements

Facilities director (presenter Mr. Grama) told the Finance Committee the facilities team is recommending purchases to replace aging fleet vehicles and to address several capital maintenance items.

For fleet replacement, Grama said the district recommends buying two 1½‑ton F‑550 trucks — one with a dump bed and another with a fifth‑wheel — from Broadway Ford using the Missouri State contract, and that the capital/facilities budget will cover the cost. He said older vehicles will be surplused and sold once replacements arrive.

On roofing, Grama said staff rebid a set of roof projects and received competitive pricing for Paradise Park (carryover design from last season) and that Flynn Midwest submitted a favorable bid; the roofing work would be funded from maintenance/repair budgets and the bond funding allocated in the district's five‑year capital plan.

Grama also outlined emergency‑response purchasing after a basement flood at Underwood Elementary that damaged classroom casework. The district received a single responsive bid this summer from Wynne O. Jones (distributor for TMI Casework), issued a purchase order to expedite replacement for the art room during winter break, and plans additional casework purchases to improve capacity at Mason Elementary. He said staff compared unit and lineal‑foot costs from recent projects before proceeding because single or limited bids require additional internal cost validation.

Board members asked about documentation and procedures when a bidding effort returns only one responsive proposal; Grama said for simple procurement items staff verify recent comparable unit costs and would pursue a more involved procurement process for complex projects.
