On June 27 the county assessor presented the statutory three‑year plan of assessment to the York County Board of Equalization, explaining inspection schedules and statutory filing deadlines.
Assessor Kurt Oldham reviewed office staffing, inspection cadence (aiming for a four‑year inspection cycle for most parcels, six years for agricultural land use rechecks), and statutory reporting duties. The board formally acknowledged receipt of the plan so the assessor could file it with the state property tax administrator on schedule.
The meeting also included four protest hearings for properties where the assessor had negotiated adjustments with taxpayers. For each protest the assessor summarized the recommended valuation change (examples included reductions tied to building condition, removal of an erroneously recorded extra bathroom and adjustments to building grades). The board voted to accept the assessor’s recommendations and record the agreed valuations.
Oldham told commissioners that additional protests were still being filed through the June 30 deadline and that a significant number of commercial protests were expected following a recent commercial reevaluation; the county will schedule follow‑up meetings with affected taxpayers and the commercial appraiser.
The board recessed the Board of Equalization and returned to the commissioners’ agenda after the hearing.
