Council considers revocable encroachment permit for Mount Pointe retail sign

Staff member (Michael, S11) described a request from the Mount Pointe Retail Development for a revocable encroachment permit because the right-of-way line in that area sits farther into the property than typical, which would put the sign within city property. Michael recommended a revocable encroachment permit (a tool used previously) that would allow the sign to be placed with the understanding it is revocable if the city later needs the location; removal costs would be the applicant27s responsibility.
A meeting participant (S12), identified as the applicant27s agent, asked whether the property owner or the agent would sign the permit and who would be notified if the city required relocation; Michael clarified the permit would be executed with the property and the agent acts on the owner27s behalf.
Council members raised no substantive objections to the approach and asked that staff follow up with the applicant; Michael said staff will be in touch to proceed.
